Program Notes

Two Points of No Return is a setting of two poems by Robert Nosow. Robert is a cellist and musicologist as well as an excellent poet. Among other shared experiences, we were expatriate musicians in Mexico together. My BorderSongs, three settings for voice, saxophone, and piano, is an even more direct reflection of that shared experience. I have attempted in these settings to capture the exquisite moments of the individual phrases without losing the sweep of the complete poems.
